The tension between Rahul and the LSG team owner Sanjiv Goenka had been widely speculated after LSG’s underwhelming 2023 campaign. In a past interview, Rahul had hinted that his decision to move on stemmed from a need for personal growth and a healthier team atmosphere. While he didn’t go into detail, his words suggested a desire for renewal, one that now seems to be paying off in his performances with Delhi.
As for Lucknow, the shift in personnel and leadership philosophy appears to be part of a larger strategy, with Sanjiv Goenka reiterating the franchise’s focus on a winning mindset and team-first culture.
But on this particular night, it was Rahul’s calm presence and sharp batting that made the loudest statement — without needing to say much at all.
