Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are the two most successful teams of the IPL as both the teams have won the tournament five times and this has further played an important role in increasing the rivalry between both the teams.
While MI has won the IPL five times under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, CSK has won all the five titles under the leadership of MS Dhoni.
Recently, the former Indian cricketer Ambati Rayudu appeared on a talk show in which he talked about the difference in the fan base of both the teams and what made Rayudu a suitable candidate to talk in this regard is the fact that he has played for both the teams, MI and CSK.
Ambati Rayudu stated that as a player, he would say that fans of Mumbai Indians will support the team rather than any particular player but when it comes to Chennai Super Kings, fans keep Dhoni first and CSK second. Ambati Rayudu adds that he thinks the stadium wouldn’t get even half filled if MS Dhoni is not there; they all are fans of Mahi.
MS Dhoni took retirement from international cricket in 2020 but it hasn’t affected his popularity even a bit and it was speculated that the IPL 2023 would be the last IPL of MS Dhoni but after CSK won the IPL 2023, MS Dhoni promised to play in the IPL 2024 in return of the love and affection that he got from his fans.
