Virat Kohli quit the Indian T20 team’s captaincy after the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 as he already made an announcement in this regard before the tournament began. Now Rohit Sharma will be leading the Indian side as a full-time captain for the first time in the match which will be played at Jaipur.

Meanwhile an old tweet of Rohit Sharma is going viral in which he has written, “Touched down on Jaipur, and yes I will be leading the side, looking forward to the added responsibility.” Though this tweet was made by Hitman 9 years ago in 2012, it fits perfectly in the present situation.

He tweeted it on 7th Nov 2012 when he was going to lead his Mumbai team in the Ranji Trophy for the first time at KL Saini Ground and now once again, it will be Jaipur where he will lead the Indian squad for the first time as a full time skipper.

The Indian team had a disastrous ICC T20 World Cup as it was not even able to secure its place in the semi-finals despite the fact that it was considered as one of the favorites to win the tournament in the beginning. India lost its first two matches against Pakistan and New Zealand badly and even three consecutive wins against three weak teams – Scotland, Afghanistan and Namibia were not enough to make it play semi-finals.

On the other hand, New Zealand played some good cricket and reached the finals but lost it to the Australians and it was really heart-breaking for them as earlier they lost the finals of the 2019 ICC World Cup 2019 which they played against England.

As we wrote above, the first T20I match of the series will be played at Jaipur, the second will be played at Ranchi and the third one is scheduled to be played at Kolkata.

All the best team India!
