Andre Russell Reacts To Shah Rukh Khan’s Apology Tweet After KKR Lost Against MI

The co-owner of KKR Shah Rukh Khan was also very upset with his team’s performance and he made a tweet in which he apologized to the fans for such a dismal performance of the team. SRK tweeted, “Disappointing performance. To say the least @KKRiders apologies to all the fans!”

The match was played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, and KKR decided to bowl first after winning the toss. The bowlers of KKR bowled superbly as they limited the defending champions to a small score of 151. Andre Russell was the highest wicket taker with 5 wickets in his 2 overs and he gave only 15 runs. The highest scorer for MI was Suryakumar Yadav who scored 56 runs in 36 balls (7 fours & 2 sixes) while the skipper Rohit Sharma also made a useful contribution of 43 runs in 32 deliveries (3 fours and 1 six).

KKR had a great start in batting too as their openers played brilliantly and shared a partnership of 72 runs for the first wicket. While Nitish Rana scored 57 in 47 balls (6 fours & 2 sixers), Shubman Gill made 33 runs in 24 deliveries (5 fours & 1 six) but no other KKR batsman was able to contribute properly. As a result, KKR managed only 142 runs in their stipulated 20 overs and MI won the match by 10 runs.

However, there was a time when KKR was in a very strong position as at the end of 15 overs, they were 122/4 which means that they needed to score 30 runs in 30 balls with 6 wickets in hands. Rahul Chahar was the highest wicket-taker for MI as he sent 4 KKR batsmen back to the dug-out in his 4 overs and gave 27 runs and he was also adjudged as the player of the match for his superb performance.

During the post-match virtual press conference when Andre Russell was asked about the apologizing tweet of the co-owner Shah Rukh Khan, the cricketer says that he supports his tweet but in the end, it is a game of cricket and nothing can be said about it until the last ball is bowled.

Russell is known for his hard-hitting batting style but in yesterday’s match, he was not able to score runs at a quick rate as he made merely 9 runs in 15 balls before getting out. Talking about the match, he says that they are certainly disappointed but it is just the second match so they will take lessons from it and he is still proud of his team as they have played good cricket.

On the question of the sudden collapse of his team, Andre Russell says that he has played many T20 games and he has seen many times that a team which is in the driving position suddenly loses wickets and the new batsmen find problem in scoring runs and this is what has happened in this match as well. Talking about the wicket, Russell says that it is not an easy pitch to bat on, especially for the new batsmen and it is difficult to start hitting shots from the first ball. As per him, no matter how good a batsman may be, he will certainly need a couple of balls to settle over there.

The match between MI and KKR has proved that T20 cricket is not always about hard-hitting and sometimes the bowlers can also dictate the terms. What do you say?
