The Bollywood actors charge a huge amount for acting in movies nowadays; in fact, some A-listers not only charge a whopping amount as fees but they also take a share in profits which further increases their income considerably. However, today in this article, we are going to tell you about the fees charged by the big actors in 1990s and it will certainly leave you surprised.
Here is the list of the actors and their fees in the 90s:
1. Ajay Devgn:
The Singham of Bollywood started his career as an action hero and 1991 released “Phool Aur Kaante” was his debut movie. In 1995, Ajay Devgn used to charge Rs. 70 lakhs for each film and if we talk about his current remuneration, then as per a report, he charges Rs. 25 crore for one movie.
2. Amitabh Bachchan:
The legendary actor has given many hit movies in his illustrious career and it is being said that he started charging Rs. 3 crore after his film “Khuda Gawah” (1992) got released. Though he doesn’t play lead characters nowadays, he is still one of the busiest actors of the present times. Well nowadays, he is mostly seen hosting quiz show KBC and it is being said that he charges Rs. 4-5 crore per episode.
3. Shah Rukh Khan:
The King of Romance used to charge Rs. 30 lakhs in 1995 when he gave hit movies – “Karan Arjun” and “Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge”. If we talk about his current remuneration, as per a report, he charged Rs. 100 crore each for “Pathaan” and “Jawan” while for “Dunki”, he was paid around Rs. 28 crore.
4. Juhi Chawla:
The beautiful senior actress was one of the highest paid actresses of her times and in 1993 when her movies “Darr” and “Hum Hain Rahi Pyaar Ke” released, she used to charge around Rs. 20 lakhs per movie; however, she is not seen much in movies nowadays.
5. Madhuri Dixit Nene:
1994 released “Hum Aapke Hain Koun” was one of the biggest hits of Madhuri’s career and after this movie, the actress started charging Rs. 50 lakhs for a movie. In the present scenario, it is being said that Madhuri Dixit Nene charges Rs. 4-5 crore for a film and she also works as a judge on a dance show for which she is said to be paid around Rs. 24-25 crore for a single season.
6. Sunny Deol:
The senior actor made a great comeback on the big screen last year with “Gadar 2” but if we talk about 1990s, he was one of the most sought after actors of those times. It is being said that he charged Rs. 50 lakhs for “Jaani Dushman: Ek Anokhi Kahani” (2002) and then he increased it to Rs. 60-70 lakhs and if we talk about the current times, then a report suggests that he charges Rs. 50 crore for a movie.
7. Suniel Shetty:
Suniel Shetty was more popular among the youngsters because of his physique rather than his acting, it is being said that he charged Rs. 30 lakhs for “Jaani Dushman: Ek Anokhi Kahani”. If we talk about the current scenario, then the actor reportedly charges around Rs. 2-3 crore for a movie.
8. Akshay Kumar:
Akshay Kumar has given back to back flops in recent times but there was a time when his presence in a movie was the guarantee of success. After 1994 released “Mohra” became a hit at the box-office, Akshay Kumar started charging Rs. 55 lakhs for one movie and if we talk about the current scenario, he charges between Rs. 60 and 100 crore for a movie.
9. Nana Patekar:
Nana Patekar is one of the most versatile actors of the industry and after giving hits like “Tirangaa” (1993) and “Krantiveer” (1994), Nana Patekar started charging Rs. 50 lakhs for a movie. It is being said that nowadays he charges something between Rs. 2 and 3 crore for a movie along with an agreement of profit-sharing.
