Hard days for RCB

The bad phase of Royal Challengers Bangalore doesn’t seem to end as yesterday they suffered their seventh defeat in the IPL 2024 and what hurt more was the fact that they lost the match by just 1 run.

RCB played their eighth match against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens and it was certainly one of the most breathtaking matches of the IPL.

The toss was won by RCB and they chose to bowl first, KKR’s openers put up a partnership of 56 runs for the first wicket that included 48 runs of Phil Salt for which he played only 14 deliveries and during his innings, he smashed 7 fours & 3 sixes. The skipper Shreyas Iyer played a useful knock of 50 runs (36 balls, 7 fours & 1 six) and some good work was done by Rinku Singh (24 runs, 16 balls, 2 fours & 1 six), Andre Russell (27 runs not out, 20 balls, 4 fours) and Ramandeep Singh (24 runs, 9 balls, 2 fours & 2 sixes).

KKR put up a big total of 222/6 runs on the score board and in response, RCB had a poor start as they lost their star batter Virat Kohli quite early.

Though Virat Kohli was going great with 18 runs (1 four & 2 sixes) on 6 balls but the seventh ball that he played was bowled by Harshit Rana and it was a high full-toss that was going down-side. Virat Kohli played the ball and gave a catch to the bowler but he and Faf du Plessis were of the opinion that it was a no-ball. However, the decision of the third umpire went against him which made Virat Kohli very angry; while he was seen chatting with the umpire in an aggressive manner, he was also seen hitting a trash can on his way back to the dug-out.
