Another Shocking Maggi News: Nestle Is Destroying Maggi Worth Rs. 350 Crore - RVCJ Media

According to Nestle, the company is destroying 2-minute Maggi noodles worth Rs. 350 crore on account of the ban which food safety law of India imposed for its being harmful for health.

The ready-to-eat food is discovered to be “unsafe and hazardous” in the tests conducted by food safety regulator of the country which eventually accused the company for not adhering to food safety regulations. However, Nestle is firm on its statement of Maggi’s being safe as well as challenges the ban. There is no denying the fact that the company owns a major share, i.e., 80% of noodles market in India.

As per the statement made by Nestle, worth of noodles taken back incorporate stocks removed from shelves as well as items with distributors and stocked up in factories.

In the words of Nestle, “There will be additional costs to take into account, for example bringing stock from the market, transporting the stock to the destruction points, destruction cost etc. The final figure will have to be confirmed at a later date.”

Nestle challenges this ban on noodles in Mumbai’s high court and “raised issues of interpretation” in connection with food safety regulations of the country.

Paul Bulcke, global chief executive of the firm, wishes for seeing lab test result. Moreover, he has also made a promise of returning the instant noodles in shelves shortly. Here it’s worth mentioning that Maggi knocked the country in the year 1983 and ever since found all through India.
