Pressure was building, critics were loud and expectations were slipping but Riyan Parag responded in the best way possible with a match-defining knock.
Leading Rajasthan Royals against Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2026, Riyan Parag stepped up when his team needed him the most. Playing in Jaipur, RR found themselves in early trouble after losing Yashasvi Jaiswal (6) and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi (4) within the first two overs.
With the top order gone, Riyan Parag took control of the innings. Alongside Dhruv Jurel, he built a crucial 100-run partnership for the third wicket, stabilising the innings. He then continued the momentum with another important 50-run stand with Ravindra Jadeja.
Riyan Parag’s 90 off 50 balls marked his first fifty-plus score of the season and came at a time when he was under heavy scrutiny, especially after the vaping controversy during a previous match against Punjab Kings. This innings helped shift the focus back to his cricket.
Former RR player Ravichandran Ashwin praised Riyan Parag publicly, describing him as a special talent and appreciating how he let his performance speak for itself.

With support from Donovan Ferreira who smashed an unbeaten 47 off just 14 balls, Rajasthan Royals posted a strong total of 225/6.
However, Mitchell Starc played a key role for Delhi Capitals, picking up 3/40 and dismissing Riyan Parag at a crucial moment in the 17th over.
Despite the team situation, Riyan Parag’s innings stood out as a powerful comeback under pressure.
