The Indian team performed pretty well on the first day of the first test match against West Indies which is being played at Windsor Park Dominica as the hosts were all out at the score of 150 in their first innings. Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin played an important role in dismissing West Indies at such a low score as he took the 33rd fifer of his career and he also became the sixth bowler to have the maximum number of fifers in test cricket. It was Ashwin’s fifth fifer against West Indies and he gave away only 60 runs in his 24 overs.
However, after performing well against West Indies, Ravichandran Ashwin once again visited the WTC final snub and he stated that it was important for him to make a strong comeback in the team after being dropped from the team which played the WTC final.
The exclusion of Ravichandran Ashwin from the playing eleven of the WTC final raised many eyebrows because making the world’s number one test bowler sit out in such an important match was quite shocking for majority of cricket fans as well as former cricketers. The legendary former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar also expressed his unhappiness over the fact that the world’s number one test bowler was not included in the team.
Ashwin further stated that winning the WTC final would have been the highest point of his career and he might have played an important role in that regard but unfortunately that didn’t happen. Ashwin feels that the best way to move on is to perform rather than sulk and he just wants to give his best efforts on the field.
Ravichandran Ashwin has become the first Indian bowler to dismiss the father-son duo, he has dismissed Shivnarine Chanderpaul earlier and in this test match, he dismissed his son Tagenarine Chanderpaul.
Well, leaving out Ashwin from the WTC final was a big mistake as India lost that match to Australia by 209 runs and the team management got heavily slammed for this decision.
