It was on Sunday that the man had been detained at Mumbai international airport as he waited for boarding flight to Delhi with family. Since Mumbai was earlier called Bombay, the code of the city at the airport has BOM.

As per cops, the 45 years old man had been annoyed with delay in flights and hence went to a phone booth at the airport. From there, he called the airport’s toll-free no. and threatened the operator by saying “bomb fata hai” “(a bomb has exploded)”. After this, he hung up at once.

Investigating officers are of the opinion that Vinod Moorjani’s intention behind the threatening call was delaying each outbound flight from Delhi. This way, he wouldn’t miss a connecting flight to Rome, reports PTI.

He has been charged with offences like criminal intimidation and was appeared in a court; however, the Indian media is informed by court officials that the man is pleading innocent to charges.

According to his advocate, the man only wanted to make an inquiry about the flight’s status and asked “Bom-Del status”. Since line was disturbed, he hung up the call. Now he is out on a bail of Rs. 30,000.
