What This Bank Manager Did For Customer’s Cremation Proves That Humanity Still Exists

Unquestionably, the demonetization step by Modi govt. has been taken for a good purpose; however, it has created major problems for a number of people who have been struggling hard either to get cash from banks and ATMs or to get their old notes exchanged. What adds to their suffering is the shortage of cash in banks and ATMs and sadly enough, several lives are lost after note ban too owing to work pressure, unavailability of cash in new currency notes etc. Even bank staff is left helpless in this situation but still, they are trying their best to meet the needs of customers.

At the present time, we stumble upon many incidents which make us feel that humanity has stopped existing in the world but today we are going to tell you about a bank manager who has proved it entirely wrong and on the contrary, established the idea that only we have the ability to save humanity and we can change the society and help the needy, provided that we desperately wish for the same.

An unfortunate incident took place in the home of Munnelal Sharma, a cancer patient who passed away on Tuesday morning. Sadly, members of his family didn’t have any money at home for cremation. When Neha, the granddaughter of Munnelal Sharma, visited Ghaziabad’s Navyug Market branch of Bank of India, she found that the bank was cashless; however, AK Jain, the bank manager, made all possible efforts for helping the family by lending them money for performing the last rites of the deceased.

The bitter truth is that 65-yrs Munnelal, on Monday morning, went to the same branch with Neha for withdrawing cash so that he could purchase medicines; nevertheless, that could not be possible as the bank didn’t have cash. On the next morning, he left the world and when Neha once again made it to the bank for getting cash to perform the last rites of her grandfather, the situation was the same as it was on the previous day. And then, it was the bank manager who proved to be of a great help to her.

This is how Neha describes the incident,

“My grandfather was suffering from cancer and in the last few days he was not keeping well. On Monday he had asked me to escort him to the bank so that he could withdraw money he needed for his medicines.”

She further stated,

“There was a long queue outside the bank but still I managed to enter the branch. However, I was told that there was no cash. My grandfather then requested the bank manager to do something, and the manager then asked us to come back on Tuesday.”

However, her grandfather died the next morning. In her words,

“We had no cash at home and needed money to conduct his last rites. So I rushed to the bank. And again I was told there was no cash. I did not give up. I met the bank manager and explained to him the situation.”

She added,

“There was no cash in the bank. But the bank manager spoke with one of his customers and asked him to lend Rs 10,000. And then he gave another Rs 7,000 from his own pocket for the cremation.”

The manager talked about the shortage of cash that the bank was facing on Monday and Tuesday.

“On Tuesday, Neha came to me and informed me of Munnelal’s demise and asked me to help her withdraw cash as his cremation was held up for want of money. But I was helpless because the bank still did not have cash. But given the situation, I requested one of my customers to lend me some money, which he did, and I also contributed Rs 7,000 from my own pocket and handed over Rs 17,000 to Munnelal’s granddaughter.”

Adding more to the matter, he stated,

“Last week we received cash for just two days and that was also so little that many of our customers had to return without money. This week, too, we have not received any cash till now.”

At last, the last rites of Munnelal Sharma were performed late in the afternoon.
