The Indian cricket team may be one of the strongest teams of the current times and it has performed well in many bilateral series as well but it is also true that it has failed in winning any ICC trophy since 2013. In 2013, India won its last ICC trophy when MS Dhoni led team won the Champions Trophy and since then, Indian fans are waiting to see their team lifting an ICC trophy.
India recently lost the WTC final to Australia by 209 runs and now the second chance that it has to win an ICC trophy is in the ODI World Cup which is going to take place in India later this year.
The Indian team has reached the finals of the ICC tournaments four times after 2013 – 2014 T20 World Cup, 2017 Champions Trophy and two times in WTC finals but it failed in winning them. Though some people have also started calling the Indian team as new chokers of international cricket yet the former West Indian cricketer Clive Lloyd feels otherwise as he states in an interview that the Indian team has the capacity to break the shackles and winning an ICC trophy is a matter of time for them.
During an interview, the legendary West Indian cricketer says that they are getting there, they have played the semi-finals, the finals as they have qualified for many finals. He feels that the future of Indian cricket is very bright because of the IPL and they have good 50 over side, a great test team and it is just a matter of time that they will win a big tournament. According to Clive Lloyd, such things happen in cycle and he is pretty sure that it will work for India in future.
In July, the Indian team is all set to travel to West Indies where it will play 2 test matches, 3 ODIs and 5 T20Is.
