The superb cricketing action of the Women’s Premier League is making cricket fans go crazy and the temperatures will certainly soar as the tournament will progress further. Yesterday, the UP Warriorz started their journey in the tournament with a win against Gujarat Giants who suffered their second defeat in their second match. The match was played at Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy, Mumbai, and Gujarat Giants chose to bat first after winning the toss.
Though GG put up a competitive total of 169/6 on the score board in their 20 overs with the help of Harleen Deol’s knock of 46 runs (32 balls, 7 fours), the UP Warriorz managed to clinch victory with just 1 ball remaining in their innings despite losing wickets on a regular interval.
UPW lost their three top-order batters in the first three overs –skipper Alyssa Healy (7), Shweta Sehrawat (5) and Tahila McGrath (0) but Kiran Navgire batted sensibly and played a useful knock of 53 runs in 43 balls and her innings included 5 fours & 2 sixes. However, all the limelight was stolen by Grace Harris who played a blistering knock of 59 runs for which she played 26 balls. Her innings included 7 fours & 3 sixes and she ensured that her team ended as the winners.

Kim Garth bowled beautifully for Gujarat Giants as she ended the match with the figures of 5/36 and Grace Harris was adjudged as the Player of the Match for her smashing knock.
