Royal Challengers Bengaluru continued their impressive IPL 2026 campaign by defeating Gujarat Titans by 92 runs in Qualifier 1 at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala on Tuesday. The defending champions booked their place in a second consecutive IPL final with a complete team performance.

While captain Rajat Patidar grabbed attention with his explosive unbeaten 93 runs, senior pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar played a major role with the ball. The experienced fast bowler delivered an outstanding spell of 3 wickets for 28 runs in four overs and reclaimed the Purple Cap during Gujarat’s chase of 255.
After the match, Bhuvi credited the team’s support staff and detailed planning for RCB’s success this season. He explained that the bowlers have benefited greatly from the preparation done behind the scenes and praised the contribution of both the coaching staff and experienced players like Josh Hazlewood.
The pacer also shared that although modern T20 cricket relies heavily on analytics and data, RCB does not depend completely on statistics. According to him, the team uses data as a guide to improve in certain areas but focuses more on proper execution during matches.
RCB’s bowling attack kept constant pressure on Gujarat Titans by not allowing batters enough room to play attacking shots. The bowlers targeted the stumps regularly, leading to wickets through bowled and leg-before dismissals. Gujarat kept losing wickets at crucial moments and were eventually bowled out for 162.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been one of RCB’s top performers this season. The 36-year-old has taken 26 wickets in 15 matches at an impressive average of 18.15.
The latest victory also marked RCB’s fifth appearance in an IPL final. The team is now aiming to become only the third franchise after Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings to successfully defend an IPL title.
