Records tumbled on April 30 as Bhuvneshwar Kumar etched his name into the IPL history with a remarkable achievement. The experienced Indian pacer became the first ever bowler to take 200 IPL wickets in India, reaching the milestone during the match between Gujarat Titans and Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

Needing just two wickets before the game, Bhuvneshwar Kumar wasted no time. He struck early by dismissing Sai Sudharsan on the last ball of the third over. Sai Sudharsan managed only 6 runs off five balls before being caught by Jitesh Sharma.
The milestone moment came soon after. On the final ball of his next over, Bhuvneshwar Kumar removed Shubman Gill who had been playing aggressively and scored 43 runs off just 18 balls. Shubman Gill was caught by Virat Kohli, sealing Bhuvneshwar’s place in the record books.
He did not stop there. Continuing his impressive spell, Bhuvneshwar Kumar also dismissed Jos Buttler in the eighth over, strengthening his position in the Purple Cap race for the IPL 2026.

In the list of the most IPL wickets in India, Bhuvneshwar Kumar now leads the way, with Yuzvendra Chahal following him. Chahal, who holds the overall record for the most IPL wickets, has taken 186 wickets in 154 matches played in India.
Over the years, Bhuvneshwar Kumar has represented teams like Pune Warriors India, Sunrisers Hyderabad and RCB. He has also played 15 IPL matches for SRH in the United Arab Emirates, showing his consistency across different conditions.
This milestone once again highlights Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s skill, experience and lasting impact in the league.
