A sad day for cricket enthusiasts as Phil Hughes, a potential star of the future, passed away today after 2 days in a Sydney hospital. He was 26 years old.

In a Sheffield shield game between South Australia and New South Wales, Hughes, batting at 63, was severely hurt by a bouncer which struck him on his head.

Following treatment on the pitch, he was rushed to the hospital to reduce damage on his head. However after a surgery, he fell into a coma and his condition turned even more critical. He passed away today, a young man with oodles of potential to make it big. He had played 26 tests and and 25 One Day Internationals.

As much as we enjoy cricket, we should never forget that there is also an apparent level of danger attached to it. We beseech each one of you to take reasonable care while playing any sport. Safety is essential. This incident is a lesson for us all.
