Mahi was loved not just for his captaincy skills but also for his hard-hitting style of batting and unconventional style of wicket-keeping. The legendary former cricketer may have bid goodbye to the international cricket but he still plays for his IPL team Chennai Super Kings. Dhoni is also the second most successful skipper of the IPL as CSK has won the IPL titles four times under his leadership.

MS Dhoni played 90 test matches, 350 ODIs and 98 T20Is for the country in which he scored 4876 runs, 10773 runs and 1617 runs, respectively. In his career, he scored 6 centuries in test matches and 10 in ODIs and as far as fifties are concerned, he has 33 test fifties, 73 ODI fifties and 2 T20I fifties to his name.

Born in Ranchi, the cricketer used to play as a goalkeeper for his school’s football team but his coach inspired him to become a cricketer after seeing Mahi’s superb goalkeeping skills which helped him in becoming a great wicketkeeper. For almost two years (2001-2003), Mahi worked in the Indian Railways as a Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE) but destiny had some big plans for him as he left the job to focus completely on his game.

Recently, the official Twitter handle of CSK posted a video in which MS Dhoni talked about his favourite cricketer as well as his favourite sport. The video clip is from an event which has been organized in a school and when Mahi is asked about his cricket role model, the CSK skipper states that the legendary former cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has always been his role model. He told the crowd that he was just like them who used to watch Little Master bat and think that he wanted to play like him. However, Thalaivaa also said that later on, he realised that he would not be able to play like him but somewhere in his heart, he always desired to play like Sachin.

When MS Dhoni was asked about his favourite subject, he asked whether sports qualified for a subject which left crowd in splits.

The video was shared with the caption, “Even Thala’s favourite period is PT!”

As Dhoni revealed his cricket role model, Twitterati got into action and here are some selected reactions:

Sachin Tendulkar is considered as the God of cricket by his fans and the legendary cricketer has given many match-winning performances for the team. In his illustrious career, Master Blaster played 200 test matches and 463 ODIs in which he scored 15,921 runs and 18,426 runs, respectively. He holds the record of 100 international centuries (51 tests and 49 ODIs) and was a part time bowler as well who has 46 test wickets and 154 ODI wickets to his name. Sachin has played only one T20I for the country but he played in the IPL for Mumbai Indians.

Both these cricketers have contributed immensely in growth of the Indian cricket and they are still missed on the field by their fans.
