The “growing intolerance” debate has reached the new platform of “nationalism v/s anti-nationalism” after the JNU incident. Basically, the intolerance debate started with the Dadri murder case and it proceeded with the writers, historians and filmmakers returning their awards but it strengthened further when Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan showed his support with the “Award Wapsi” group and another actor Aamir Khan went a step further after giving his “leaving India” comments.
Since then, a lot has been said and debated on this issue and recently, Anupam Kher gave a fiery speech at a debate organized by The Telegraph. Anupam’s speech went viral on the Internet and social media as he thrashed all those who have been standing in support of JNU students who call Afzal Guru’s hanging as a “Judicial murder” and have been charged with sedition. The actor’s speech is getting a lot of support from the public who have the same emotions towards the incident.
In the same event, TV News reporter Barkha Dutt also gave her speech and spoke as a citizen of India without taking anybody’s side.
