The court stated,

“Absolutely no hesitation in holding that the prosecution has miserably failed to prove any charge against any of the accused, made in its well choreographed charge sheet.”

CBI claimed that A Raja was giving telecom licences as per his will, ignoring the first-come-first-served principle. He also misinformed the (then) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and didn’t care about the issues concerning to other departments. CBI accused Raja of offering licences to those who fulfilled his demand in return in cash or kind.

However, as no one from the PMO was examined by CBI, the court feels that it can’t be ascertained that PM was actually misled or misinformed. The court said,

“There is no material on record to indicate that the Prime Minister was misled or the facts were misrepresented to him.”

As per the court, there was no clarity in the guidelines of spectrum allocation and policies which further aggravated the matter as even many officials of DoT were not clear about them. The court stated,

“When the officers of the department themselves do not understand the departmental guidelines and their glossary, how can they blame companies/ others for violation of the same?”

Twitter has strongly reacted to the verdict as the scam has taken place and if all the accused are released, it’s quite clear that the justice has not prevailed. Here are few selected tweets:
