The filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali was attacked by a group of Rajput community which is called Karni Sena on the sets of Padmavati in Jaipur. Sanjay was shooting for the movie in the Jaigarh Fort when this group came, attacked, slapped him and also destroyed the sets of the flick.
The members of Karni Sena were against the shooting of “Padmavati” as they were of the opinion that Sanjay is distorting the facts and not presenting the true picture. He faced these types of allegations earlier as well when he made “Bajirao Mastani” and there were some protests against the shooting of the movie too.
However, attacking and slapping the director and the crew is absolutely not acceptable and even if someone has issues, there are other ways to express them.
Many members of Bollywood have raised their voices against this attack and condemned it on Twitter while actress Sonam Kapoor took to Instagram and showed an old tweet by the Indian PM Narendra Modi in which he stated that art can’t have any limits or restrictions. The “Neerja” star has requested the PM to stand for the film community.
She wrote, “A gentle reminder sir… a couple of days after republic day if we as an industry have to deal with such humiliation for expressing ourselves , it’s frankly very disheartening . Please stand up for us.. #padmavati”
Many celebrities took to Twitter to express their outrage:
Rishi Kapoor:
