This Country Blocked Facebook, Twitter & Instagram Due To Exams Of Students!

It is very sad that we live in a world where free speech is not allowed and there is one more example sneaking through the corner to support this claim!

Several countries have interfered or debarred access to the social networking site Facebook which include China, North Korea, Bangladesh, Iran & Syria. But guys, there is one more new addition to the group – Ethiopia.

According to the BBC news, Ethiopia has blocked all social media sites after university entrance exams were posted online. The government had backed their decision by saying that the ban was to prevent students who can be distracted from studying during the exam time. In May, the pictures of the test were circulated on social media which lead to the cancellation of the test.

Spokesman Getachew Reda said, “It’s a temporary measure until Wednesday. Social media have proven to be a distraction for students.”

An Ethiopian journalist who has fortunately covered the story said that the clampdown “was just the beginning”.

The blocked sites are Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Viber. Earlier, the government has tightly controlled the traditional media and Skype was taken down in 2012 in the midst of a clampdown on VoIP (Voice Over Internet protocol) calls.

If we consider our scenario, we should be happy with the fact that only 857 adult sites are blocked in India. Tanmay Bhat can peacefully take a sip of his coffee after posting “Sachin Vs Lata Civil war” in Snapchat and facebook. Earlier, due to suspecting horror content related to ISIS, Vimeo, GitHub and Dailymotion were blocked. But, the order has been upturned and the unblocking procedure begun smoothly.

So, considering the present scenario, do you think that India too, will ban on social media sites? Do let us know your views as your opinions are valuable to us!
