Team India won the Asia Cup after defeating Bangladesh in the finals in a nail-biting contest. There is no denying the fact that everyone was expecting an India-Pakistan final but slowly and steadily, Bangladesh is also becoming a team to reckon with.
Indeed, Bangladeshis gave a tough fight but what people are still talking about is the gesture of former Indian captain MS Dhoni towards young players.
The captain of team India for the Asia Cup was Rohit Sharma as Virat Kohli was not playing in the tournament. After India won the finals and trophy was with the captain Rohit Sharma, the former skipper MS Dhoni walked up to him and asked him to let Khaleel Ahmed hold the trophy.
The level of respect that Dhoni commands in the team is very high and when he says something, it is followed. Khaleel was made to hold the trophy on the dias and this heart-winning gesture was praised by both public and media.
Khaleel was asked to hold the trophy as he was the youngest member of the team and this was his debut series and he would have definitely loved it.
Dhoni is known for guiding the youngsters and giving them tips which will be helpful for them in the future.
This is how Twitter praised Dhoni and Rohit Sharma for the sweet gesture:

Just loved the gesture of Rohit to hand over the trophy to the youngest member of the team Khaleel Ahmed to hold aloft… He's Dhoni 2.0 in the making

I actually find rohits captaincy to be better . The fact that he let a young debutant lift the trophy – khaleel Ahmed, shows how much of a team man rohit is , unlike kohli who one always feel has his own gang of friends in the team

#INDvBan Rohit Sharma (@ImRo45) is a superior captain compared to Kohli. Esp. loved his class when Rohit allowed the debutante Khaleel Ahmed to lift and hold the trophy while the seniors stepped back. I'm not sure self-absorbed blowhard Kohli would do the same #AsiaCupFinal2018

"Dhoni Bhai Asked Rohit Sharma To Let Me Hold The ASIA Cup Trophy On The Dais". He gave me the trophy because I was the youngest member in the team and it was my debut series. It was a memorable experience for me' – Khaleel Ahmed pic.twitter.com/pYZHw6RC0w

11 years later; Roh giving Young Khaleel the trophy and letting him take the centre stage. Our teams culture👌🏾

Khaleel, whose ideal is former Indian pacer Zaheer Khan, played in two matches in Asia Cup and is pretty hopeful to play in the India-West Indies series for the country.
We wish all the best to the young cricketer!
