The next month of 2026, March is set to witness one of the biggest box office battles in recent times.
After massive success of Dhurandhar in 2025, fans have been eagerly waiting for its sequel and the much-awaited moment has finally arrived as Ranveer Singh is ready to return with Dhurandhar 2, releasing on March 19. But there’s a twist, the film will clash with Yash’s much-anticipated Toxic. With two big stars and two highly awaited films arriving on the same day, the competition is expected to be intense.

Filmmaker Sanjay Gupta recently shared his thoughts on the clash. He admitted that he plans to watch both the films but feels that it’s unfortunate they are releasing together. In simple terms, he believes that when two big films release at the same time, they end up cutting into each other’s earnings.
Drawing from his own experience, Sanjay Gupta recalled when his film Kaabil clashed with Raees. He explained that both the movies could have earned more if they had been released separately. He also pointed out that not everyone can afford to watch two films in a short span of time (in one month), especially in a country where many people plan their entertainment spending carefully. According to him, while both the films may still perform well, they might not reach their full potential because of the clash.

Talking about Dhurandhar, Sanjay Gupta said he genuinely enjoyed the first part. He mentioned that as a filmmaker, he avoids criticising projects publicly because he understands the hard work behind every film. However, when he likes something, he is happy to recommend it.
He also hinted that Dhurandhar 2 will explore backstory of Hamza, the character played by Ranveer Singh, giving audiences a deeper look into why he became who he is. Sanjay Gupta described Dhurandhar as more than just a film, calling it a phenomenon.

With Dhurandhar 2 and Toxic both hitting theatres on March 19, fans are in for a dramatic showdown and Bollywood is watching closely.
