As India endured a difficult outing against England in the third T20I at Trent Bridge, it was MS Dhoni who grabbed the attention of fans despite not being part of the playing XI. The former India captain visited Nottingham on his 46th birthday to watch the match but his presence became one of the biggest talking points of the day.

India, led by Shreyas Iyer, suffered their biggest T20I defeat against England in terms of runs, leaving MS Dhoni disappointed as the visitors failed to put up a strong performance.
The crowd at Trent Bridge gave the legendary wicketkeeper-batter a warm welcome when he arrived at the stadium. Dhoni acknowledged the applause by waving to fans but it was a playful moment during the match that quickly went viral on social media.

In a video widely shared on X, Dhoni appeared to jokingly signal to the crowd that he was getting older and would find it difficult to run between the wickets if he came out to bat. The light-hearted gesture drew plenty of reactions from cricket fans online.

The excitement around MS Dhoni continued even after the match. As he left the stadium, he was surrounded by a large number of supporters hoping to catch a glimpse of him. Escorted by security personnel, the former captain walked through cheering fans as chants of his name echoed around the venue.

Although there has been speculation about Dhoni returning to competitive cricket in the IPL 2026, fitness concerns have kept him away from the field. There is still no confirmation on whether he will play for Chennai Super Kings next season.
MS Dhoni remains one of the greatest players of cricket. He transformed from an aggressive batter into one of the game’s finest finishers and led India to three ICC titles —2007 ICC World T20, 2011 ODI World Cup and 2013 Champions Trophy, making him one of the sport’s most successful captains.
