Getting married to someone whom you don’t know properly is a matter of concern for many youngsters nowadays. Things can turn ugly if they are forced into arranged marriage, especially when they are already in love with someone else.

Something of this sort happened with Ravi Singh, a 31 years old software engineer who was quite serious for a student of Delhi University. They both wanted to tie the knot but Ravi’s parents forced him into an arranged marriage against his wishes. He didn’t want to get married against his will, so he planned his own kidnapping drama.

After distributing his wedding cards to his colleagues, he left the PG telling his friends that he was going to Jhansi. Then he sent a message to his father and cousin, stating that he had been kidnapped and demanded a ransom of Rs. 5 lakhs.

His mother was shocked so badly that she was hospitalised and his father contacted the Gurugram police for help in finding his son.

After analysing the whole situation and the manner in which the mobile was used, police was not convinced that kidnapping had taken place.

Vivek Kundu, station house officer from Gurugram police station sector 18, sent his teams to Haridwar, Delhi, Chandigarh, Kurukshetra and Jammu. Ravi was however caught in Sukhrali sector 17 when he was going to his PG to pick up his clothes.

Whatever Ravi did was absolutely wrong but his parents should also have respected their son’s feelings. What do you say?
