Speaking of the celebs who praised demonetization, Hrithik Roshan, Aamir Khan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Salman Khan, Virat Kohli and Sehwag are to name a few and now a recent addition has been made in this list.

Yes, that’s right! Demonetization has gained limelight internationally after Bill Gates, founder of Microsoft, expressed his opinion over it and supported the decision by Modi Govt., calling it a bold move. As per him, for shifting to a more transparent economy from a shadow one, it was imperative that old notes are replaced with new ones having high security features.

According to the philanthropist, there will be an increase in the number of digital transactions and in coming years, India will be among the most digitized economies from the perspectives of both percentage and size.

Gates made an appeal to the govt. to invest in the infrastructure, develop markets, handle labor issues as well as land problems properly and simplify tax procedures in order to expand its internal market.

As per the technology king, there is a need of a pioneering ecosystem in India for building future products as well as tackling problems Indians face while competing with the counterparts of other nations.

This is what he stated at the time of delivering speech for ‘NITI-Lectures series: Transforming India’ where PM Modi was present along with his Cabinet colleagues,

“The world is looking to India not just to solve its problems but to address global challenges through innovation.”

Bill Gates also appreciated initiatives made by Modi Govt. like Swachh Bharat, Startup India and Aadhaar, saying that these campaigns had never been launched earlier in the country. Not only this, he goes on to say that the nation is in the hands of a govt. which is committed for solving big issues. He also draws attention to MyGov and Digital India, saying that there’s a lot of scope for improvement in making public services more efficient which will further improve planning, grievance redressal and monitoring of performances.

While Modi Govt. is being condemned in the parliament for the demonetization step, praises are coming from outside the country and Bill Gates appreciating the move is definitely something Big!!
