Fans Hilariously React As Ahmedabad IPL Franchise Names Its Team As Gujarat Titans

The mega auction for the IPL 2022 will be taking place in a couple of days in Bengaluru and the IPL fans are pretty excited as this time, there will be 10 teams which will fight to win the trophy. The 2 new teams that will start their IPL journey will be from Lucknow and Ahmedabad. While the Lucknow franchise has already revealed its name and logo earlier, the Ahmedabad franchise took some time and disclosed its name just before the mega-auction.

Though Lucknow Super Giants was trolled after announcing its name as it is pretty similar to the company’s old IPL team’s name, i.e., Rising Pune Supergiant which played for two seasons only, cricket fans have welcomed the Ahmedabad franchise as it has named its team as Gujarat Titans. The franchise may have taken a little time in getting active on the social media networks, they had announced earlier that the Indian cricketer Hardik Pandya will be the captain of the team, former Indian pacer Ashish Nehra will be the head coach and the former England cricketer Vikram Solanki will be the Director of Cricket.

Here is how the Ahmedabad franchise revealed its name and the legacy behind its name:

Though the majority of cricket lovers especially from Gujarat are happy because now they have a team from their own state participating in the IPL, few are not happy with this name and there are some who have given suggestions regarding the logo and jersey.

The Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan also reacted to the announcement with the tweet, “Super excited to join the new team @gujarat_titans”.

Rashid Khan was an integral part of Sunrisers Hyderabad for past some years but surprisingly, he was not retained by the franchise ahead of the mega-auction. Rashid Khan is one of the draft picks of Gujarat Titans and while tweeting, he also tagged the skipper Hardik Pandya and the other draft pick Shubman Gill.

The official Twitter handle of Gujarat Titans also responded soon to Rashid Khan with, “Right back at you, Rashid! Excited for some WWWow moments”.
