‘Akira’, the Sonakshi Sinha starrer released worldwide on the 2nd of September. Unfortunately, the movie couldn’t meet the expectations of the makers, in terms of collections. Yes, on the 1st day, the movie opened to a not-so-good response.
Basically, this Sonakshi Sinha flick revolves around s3xual abuse against women, but it seems audience isn’t attracted to the theme. Let us see what the first day collections are, as per trade analyst Taran Adarsh!
#Akira gathered momentum after an ordinary start… Biz picked up from evening onwards… Fri ₹ 5.15 cr. India biz.

Sadly, this movie which was released on 2000 screens, could manage to garner just 5.15 crores on the opening day. Talking about morning shows, occupancy rate was just 12 percent, which is very bad. Gradually, the movie picked up pace in afternoon shows and did good in evening and night shows.
However, the numbers are expected to drop even more during the ‘Ganpati weekend’, because majority of the people are busy celebrating this festival and don’t prefer going out.
Now, as compared to other flicks released this year, the performance of ‘Akira’ is very bad. Have a look at the 1st day collections of other movies;
Sultan- 36.54 crores!
Rustom- 14.11 crores!
Dishoom- 11.05 crores!
Mohenjo Daro- 8.87 crores!
A Flying Jatt- 7.10 crores!
Akira- 5.15 crores!
