Hardik Pandya Leaving Mumbai Indians? MI Finally Breaks Silence On Trade Rumours

Following a disappointing IPL 2026 campaign, Mumbai Indians (MI) have addressed the growing speculation surrounding Hardik Pandya’s future with the franchise. While reports suggested that MI had held trade discussions with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and other IPL teams, the five-time champions have firmly denied those claims.

Since the end of the season, questions have been raised over Hardik Pandya’s future after another underwhelming campaign. It has been three years since he returned to Mumbai Indians from Gujarat Titans but his second stint with the franchise has been affected by inconsistent form, injuries and the team’s inability to find the right balance.

As rumours linked Hardik Pandya with several IPL franchises, Mumbai Indians clarified that no player trade discussions are currently taking place. The franchise said its post-season review is still in progress and every aspect of the squad is being carefully assessed before any decisions are made.

According to the franchise, reports claiming that trade talks are already underway are incorrect. MI explained that it is evaluating a wide range of ideas and options as part of its review process and no final decisions have been taken regarding the squad.

Although the franchise has denied any ongoing negotiations, it has also not ruled out future changes. With the review still underway, Hardik Pandya’s long-term future with Mumbai Indians remains uncertain and is expected to become clearer once the assessment is completed.

The pre-auction trading window for the IPL 2027 season is expected to close in the second week of December 2026, giving franchises time to finalise their plans. If Hardik Pandya eventually enters the auction, he is still expected to attract one of the biggest bids despite concerns over his recent form and injury record. One of the biggest reasons is his rare skill set as a pace-bowling all-rounder, a category in which India has very few quality options.

Since making his India debut in 2016, the national team has struggled to find a long-term replacement for Hardik Pandya. Even Nitish Reddy, who is considered one of the promising all-rounders, has faced injury concerns. As an Indian pace-bowling all-rounder who also frees up all four overseas slots, Pandya remains a valuable asset capable of adding balance to almost any IPL squad.
