Here Is Why Deepika Padukone Signed Atlee’s Movie Starring Allu Arjun After Spirit Exit - RVCJ Media

Deepika Padukone has officially joined Atlee’s upcoming action film currently titled AA22xA6 and the news has already generated considerable buzz. The project which also stars Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna in leading roles promises to be a high-octane entertainer. But beyond the star-studded cast and the director’s blockbuster reputation, the real reason Deepika chose to come on board is rooted in the strength and appeal of her character.

According to a report, Deepika Padukone was particularly impressed by how her role was conceptualized. She is expected to portray a warrior queen in the film, a fierce and commanding character that deeply resonated with her. Her preparation for the role is set to begin soon, with the film going on floors by mid-2025. The team is aiming for a grand release in 2026.

On June 7, the filmmakers released an official announcement video that welcomed Deepika to the cast. The video opened with a behind-the-scenes glimpse of her and director Atlee discussing the script, eventually transitioning to pre-production moments. The makers shared the video with a caption that described Deepika Padukone as a “queen” who is ready to “conquer”, setting the tone for what appears to be one of her most dynamic roles yet.

Initial speculation around the film suggested a two-hero setup but Allu Arjun’s team has clarified that he will be seen in dual roles, adding an exciting twist to the plot and further heightening anticipation for the film.

Interestingly, this announcement comes shortly after Deepika’s exit from Spirit, the Sandeep Reddy Vanga directed film starring Prabhas. Reports claimed that Deepika Padukone’s requests, such as a high remuneration, a profit share and a strict eight-hour workday, did not sit well with the director, leading to her removal from the project. As a new mother, Deepika is reportedly prioritizing a balanced schedule to accommodate her personal and professional responsibilities.

There is also speculation about her involvement in Kalki 2, directed by Nag Ashwin. Rumours suggest that she might be replaced due to her unwavering stance on work conditions, which is said to be causing scheduling issues. While nothing has been officially confirmed regarding her status in Kalki 2, it’s clear that Deepika Padukone is making intentional choices to align her career with her evolving life priorities.

Despite the ongoing chatter around other projects, Deepika’s entry into AA22xA6 sends a strong message, she is returning to the screen on her own terms, with roles that reflect strength, depth and a commanding presence. With Atlee at the helm and a bold character at the center, this film could mark another standout chapter in Deepika Padukone’s versatile journey.
