What began as an ordinary afternoon at a women’s hostel in Coimbatore turned into a terrifying tragedy when a woman was brutally att@cked and k*lled by her estranged husband. The victim, Sripriya, had been staying at the hostel while working at a private company after separating from her husband, Balamurugan.
According to police, Balamurugan arrived at the hostel on Sunday hoping to meet her. What started as a conversation quickly became an argument and in a sudden and horrifying turn, he pulled out a sickle he had hidden and attacked her in front of shocked residents. The violence sent panic through the building, with several women running outside to save themselves.
The incident grew even more disturbing when Balamurugan reportedly took a selfie with Sripriya’s body and posted it on his WhatsApp status, claiming she had betrayed him. He made no attempt to escape and stayed at the spot until police arrived. Officers detained him immediately and recovered the sickle used in the attack.
Early investigation suggests he suspected his wife of being involved with someone else, though police are still verifying details as part of a deeper probe.
The community remains shaken by the brutality of the incident, which unfolded in a place meant to be a safe home for working women and the police is carrying out a full investigation as of now.
