A video of a SpiceJet staff member telling passengers “SpiceJet sasta hai, isliye aaye ho aap” (SpiceJet is cheap, that is why you came) at Delhi’s IGI Airport has gone viral. The argument reportedly happened on 24 October 2026 at a SpiceJet counter, where more than 100 passengers were confronting two staff members.

What happens in the video

According to NewsGram, the argument broke out at the counter with CISF personnel present. During the exchange, one employee made the “sasta hai” remark. A passenger objected and asked how the employee could say this, while a second staff member backed his colleague, saying the remark was right. Passengers then began chanting “Shameful SpiceJet”.

The video does not show what led to the argument, and SpiceJet had not issued a statement at the time of the report.

How the internet reacted

  • Many users said a cheap ticket does not mean passengers deserve poor service or disrespect.
  • Some tagged the airline, calling it an insult for an employee to call their own company cheap in front of customers.
  • Others pointed out that staff represent the brand and need to stay professional, however tense things get.

And of course, the remark has become a meme. “Sasta hai isliye aaye ho” is already being applied to everything from roadside momos to that one friend’s Rs 99 Netflix plan.

Not the first SpiceJet flashpoint this month

The report notes that a similar argument between passengers and SpiceJet staff took place at Kolkata airport a few days earlier, and that SpiceJet flights have seen long delays in recent months, including a Kolkata to Bengaluru flight that was delayed by more than five hours on 26 October.

Your rights if your flight is delayed

  • Under DGCA rules, airlines must provide meals and refreshments for long delays, and refunds or alternate flights in case of cancellations, subject to conditions.
  • If you are not satisfied, you can file a complaint on the AirSewa portal or app.
  • Stay calm and keep it on record. Polite and firm, with screenshots and boarding passes, works better than a shouting match.

SpiceJet staff have also gone viral for good reasons before, like this pilot’s poetic welcome announcement. This time, the internet is less impressed.
