It was already clear that Virat Kohli won’t be playing in this series, the BCCI wanted to include KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja in the team as their presence becomes more important in absence of Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer got dropped as he was going through a bad phase with the bat. Though some reports suggested that Shreyas Iyer was having some back issues, the BCCI didn’t mention any fitness issue while dropping him.

As per the latest reports, KL Rahul will miss the third test match and he will be replaced by Devdutt Padikkal.

The former Australian cricketer Ian Chappell has talked about India’s team selection while writing a column. He wrote that India is a strong team and they have a good leader in the form of skipper Rohit Sharma. As per him, there is no doubt that KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja’s comeback will make the team stronger but Virat Kohli not playing in the series is certainly a big blow for the Indian team.

Ian Chappell also talked about dropping of Shreyas Iyer and he made a statement which may not go well with fans of Shreyas Iyer. Ian Chappell wrote that he hopes that from now on, the selectors will stop overestimating the batting ability of Shreyas Iyer and now they will start valuing more the wicket-taking ability of Kuldeep Yadav.

The former Aussie skipper also talked about the England team and wrote that the England team will get benefitted a lot if Ben Stokes starts playing as an all-rounder because his bowling is a distinctive weapon which can trouble the opposition a lot. Ian Chappell also wrote that Ben Stokes should field in slips especially to the spinners as he is one of the best fielders in that position.

Ian Chappell also asked Ben Stokes to be more proactive while batting because he is a good batter but is the best when he is scoring.
