Jasprit Bumrah was adjudged as the Player of the Match as he took 9 wickets (6 in the first innings and 3 in the second innings) and this performance enabled him to script history by becoming the first Indian pacer to attain the number one ranking in the ICC Test rankings.

The nine-wicket haul helped Jasprit Bumrah in leaving Pat Cummins, Kagiso Rabada and Ravichandran Ashwin behind and securing the top spot after which he has now become the number one test bowler of the world. Bumrah ended the 11-month reign of Ravichandran Ashwin and he is the fourth Indian bowler to become the number one test bowler after Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja and Bishan Singh Bedi.

The other Indian bowler, Kuldeep Yadav who played the Vizag test match also moved to 45th position, 4 positions above his last position and if we talk about the Indian batters, the young Yashasvi Jaiswal moved 39 places up to obtain the 29th position after hitting a double century in the Vizag test match. Another Indian batter Shubman Gill who scored a century in the second innings of the Vizag test also improved his rankings as he moved 14 places up to secure the 38th rank.

Jasprit Bumrah is certainly one of the best pacers who have played for team India and everyone is hoping to see him repeat his performance in the remaining three test matches as well. However, there are speculations that the selectors are thinking of giving rest to Jasprit Bumrah for the third test match so that he can come back fresh in the last two matches and Mohammed Siraj may be called for the third test match.

The third test match will be played at Rajkot from 15 February.
