Earlier on March 22, Sunday, PM Modi imposed Janta Curfew and urged people to stay at home from 7am to 9pm. He also asked people to come out on their gates or balcony at 5pm and make sounds by ringing bells, beating utensils, clapping, blowing conch, etc. to show gratitude towards corona warriors who have been working day and night to protect the country.

Once again, the Indian Prime Minister made a request to the Indian citizens and asked them to switch off all the lights of the home at 9pm for 9 minutes on April 5 and light diyas or candles or illuminate the surroundings with torch or flashlight of mobile phones. It’s indeed a matter of great pride that a majority of the citizens obeyed what their leader asked them to do and the scenes which went viral online give an idea of India celebrating Mini Diwali in the month of April. Some people were so enthusiastic that they also burnt firecrackers apart from lighting diyas and candles.

Indisputably, it shows how Indians stand in solidarity in tough times and have the will to fight the lethal virus by following the advices of the Indian government and the medical experts. Be it poor or rich industrialists like Mukesh Ambani and Ratan Tata or celebrities from the film industry and sports world, everyone lit diyas to answer PM Modi’s call.

It’s pretty obvious for such special events to trend on social media and netizens shared how they celebrated it. From lighting candles to burning firecrackers, Twitter was lit with posts that speak highly of India’s harmony. Check out some of the selected reactions:

However, some people behaved as stupid and gathered outdoor, making a joke of social distancing. Raja Singh, BJP MP from Telangana, was one such example who took out a procession with his supporters and shouted, “Go back, go back, Chinese virus go back”. You can see in the tweet made by him that he and many of his supporters have not even covered their faces with mask.

The condition all over the world is grim as more than 12.50 lakh people have been found infected with novel COVID-19 and over 69K have lost their lives. As far as India is concerned, things were under control until Tablighi Jamaat episode didn’t happen. The cases in India have doubled in almost 4 days and as of now, there are more than 4000 people who are infected while 118 have lost their lives.
