Reliance Jio’s main aim was to cater to the customers and let them soak in the pool of technology at dirt cheap rates and no doubt, the company has succeeded in it. After capturing the telecom market with attractive schemes, it is now time to take over the smartphone business.
You might be wondering that Reliance was already dealing in the smartphone market through LYF, but let us tell you that those were budget and mid-range devices. Fresh reports suggest that Jio is now stepping into the entry level segment as well, by launching the cheapest 4G smartphones.
Since Jio has a lucrative scheme of free messaging, free calling and unlimited data, more and more users are switching to it, but the only problem is to get a 4G enabled phone. People on a limited budget are finding it difficult to find much options in 4G phones. Considering all this, it is all set to spread fire in the smartphone market by launching 2 4G smartphones which will cost just Rs 999 and Rs 1499 each.
These phones will have various features like the rear camera, the front facing camera and will also have apps like video on demand, Live TV and Jio Chat. Moreover, the company will promote the digital wallet service, Jio Money Wallet as well.
Faizal Kawoosa, Principal analyst at Cybermedia Research says
“If VoLTE feature phones come into the market, then there won’t be a driving force pushing for the upgrade to smartphones; rather it will be an upgrade from feature phones to VoLTE feature phones.”
