When Gill asked him what was going on, Kevin Pietersen joked about his own role, saying, “Bro, what’s a mentor? No one knows what a mentor is. Can you tell me what a mentor is?” Rahul, standing nearby, seized the moment with a cheeky response: “Mentor is someone who goes to the Maldives for two weeks mid-season,” leaving Kevin Pietersen completely stumped and everyone else in splits.
