As reported by Independent.co.uk, the trailer of the movie X-Men: Apocalypse has made the Hindu leaders furious as the new villain of the movie is comparing himself with the Hindu God Shri Krishna. It’s not the first time that emotions of Hindus have been hurt by any movie maker and in the past also, some movies have triggered a reaction due to religious sentiments.
The movie buffs got to watch the trailer on Friday in which a blue coloured villain, played by Oscar Isaac, says, “I have been called many things over many lifetimes – Ra, Krishna, Yahweh.”
Rajan Zed, the Hindu Stateman observed the mention and released a statement which says, “Such trivialisation of Lord Krishna, who is highly revered in Hinduism, is quite inappropriate and disturbing to the devotees”.
It states further, “Lord Krishna was meant to be worshiped in temples or home shrines, not for pushing movies for the mercantile greed of filmmakers. The inappropriate usage of Hindu deities or concepts for commercial or other agenda is not okay. This is another example of the poor use of Hinduism culture in Hollywood. I suggest that Hollywood executives take some form of training in religious and cultural sensitivity so that they have an understanding of the feelings of audiences and communities when creating new products. We would gladly provide the resources.”
X-Men: Apocalypse is slated to release on 19 May 2016 and it also stars James McAvoy and Jennifer Lawrence.
