A Low Earning Woman Finds Rs 100 Crore In Jan-Dhan Account, Asked PMO For Help

There have been quite a few incidents after demonetization in which a person’s bank account showed huge balance, which is impossible in normal circumstances. One more case of similar sort has happened in Meerut where the account holder, Sheetal Yadav, was taken aback when she saw that her account’s balance is Rs. 99,99,99,394.

Sheetal has a Jan-Dhan account in SBI, Sharda road branch, and the maximum limit of deposit of Jan-Dhan account is Rs. 50,000. On Dec 18, she got the biggest shock of her life when she visited an ICICI ATM to withdraw money and saw the balance. She got it checked from another person and the result was the same. She went to Yes Bank ATM to check it again and found the same balance.

Sheetal visited her branch for 2 days continuously but didn’t get any help from the bank employees and was asked to come the next day every time. Sheetal’s husband Ziledar Singh then took help from a known educated person and wrote an email to the PMO, asking for its intervention in the matter.

Ziledar works in a company which manufactures transformers and his salary is not high, while Sheetal works in the packaging dept. of a factory and her monthly takeaway is Rs. 5,000, so such a huge amount in the account is absolutely out of context.

Ziledar said this while showing the bank passbook and ATM slips to the media persons,

“We have posted a mail on December 26 to the PMO to help us in solving our problem from where about Rs 100 crore came into the account where the maximum limit of deposit is restricted to Rs 50,000 only.”

No comments have been made by the bank employees so far with regard to the matter.
