The first test match of the 2-match series between India and Bangladesh has started today as it is being played at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai and it won’t be wrong to say that the Bangladesh cricket team certainly scared the Indians fans by wrapping up the Indian top order quickly. The Indian cricketers Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin certainly deserve to be applauded for the manner in which they fought back and brought team India back in the game.
The Bangladeshi team is high on confidence as they have come to India after whitewashing the 2-match test series against Pakistan and the Bangladeshi skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto has already expressed his and his team’s desire of winning the both the matches of the series which they will play against India.
During the press conference which was held before the first test match, the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma was asked to comment on the statement of Najmul Hossain Shanto. Hitman responded in a confident manner as he stated that the Indian side will focus on their game and remain unaffected of what others are saying.
He said that while teams of other countries often express the desire to beat the Indian team, it does not affect India’s approach. Referring to past experiences, Rohit mentioned that England also made similar statements during their five-match test series earlier this year but India remained committed to their performance on the field.
Here is what Rohit Sharma stated, “Bangladesh ke baare me dekhiye. Sab team ko India ko harana hai. India ko harane me maza aata hai. Maze lene do unko. But humara kaam hai jo humko karna jo hai ki hume match kaise jeetna hai. Hum ye nahi soch sakte ki humare saamne jo team khel rahi hai vo humare bare me kya soch rahi hai. Unka thinking kya hai.” (Every team wants to beat India; they all enjoy that; let them enjoy. Our job is to win the match. We can’t think what others think about us).
He further added, “England bhi jab yaha par aaye the, unhone bhi kaafi baat-chit ki press conferences me but humne koi uss cheej par focus kiya nahi utna. Humare ko jaruri tha ki hum results ko humari taraf kaise laaye. Toh humari koshish abhi bhi yahi rahegi ki cricket kaise ache tarike se khele. Jyada opposition ke bare me naa soche.” (When England came, they also spoke a lot in the press conferences, but we do not focus on that. We try to play good cricket and not think too much about opposition).
Hitman went on to say, “Kyonki abhi aap teams ki baat karo toh sab team ke saamne India ne cricket khela hai, toh alag se koi strategy banane ki jarurat nahi hai. Koi 1-2 naye ladke aate hain team mein toh unke bare me thoda sa aap soch ke you can move forward. But chahe Bangladesh ho, Australia ho, England ho, Zimbabwe ho, Kenya ho, New Zealand ho, ya koi bhi ho, aap teams ke saamne itna cricket khelte ho toh apko kuch alag cheej karne ki jarurat nahi padti. 1-2 log naye aate hain team mein unke bare me aap discuss karo aur aage badho. Toh humari koshish bhi inke saamne aisi hi rahegi ki hum humare game par focus karein.”
