Kamal Kishor Mandal graduated in Political Science but he started working as a security guard in RD & DJ College, Munger, at the age of 23 yrs in year 2003 because of monetary problems faced by his family. However just a month later, he was shifted to Ambedkar Thought and Social Work department, Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University and in the year 2008, his job was changed to peon from security guard.

While working as a peon, there were times when Kamal also felt the desire to study just like other students so he asked for permission to study from the authorities. The authorities were kind enough as they granted him the permission so in 2009, Kamal took admission in the post graduation course in Ambedkar Thought and Social Work and started studying with his peon’s job.

As per the reports, after completing his Masters, Kamal got enrolled in Ph.D course in 2013 and got his degree in 2019 after submitting thesis in 2017. Meanwhile, he also cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) and was searching for teaching job. In 2020, Bihar State University Service Commission made an announcement regarding the four vacancies of Assistant Professor in Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University, the same college in which Kamal was employed as a peon.

Kamal’s hard work paid off and on 19 May 2022, he got selected and now the 42 years old man is working as an Assistant Professor in the department of Ambedkar Thought and Social Work.

During an interview, Kamal Kishor Mandal stated that he never let poverty and other family problems affect his studies. He said that he used to attend classes in the morning, worked as peon in afternoon and study and revise in the night.

Kamal Kishor Mandal is an inspiration for not just his students but all of us! Kudos!
