Your Mobile Will Not Be Disconnected If You Don’t Link It With Aadhar Card Till 31st March

Since a long time now, there have been messages that mobile numbers need to be linked to Aadhar card before 31st of March 2018. Some people haven’t linked it yet and are under the impression that they just have 10 days.

However, let us tell you that these messages are invalid. The DoT i.e. Department of Telecom has extended the time for re-verification of mobile numbers. As of now, the time is not yet defined but 31st of March 2018 is surely not the last date.

DoT has passed the order after Supreme Court extended the deadline for linking Aadhaar card. The new deadline is yet to be declared.

DoT issued a press release which read,

“In compliance with the directions of the SC, the undersigned is directed to convey the approval of competent authority that the last date of re-verification of existing mobile subscribers through Aadhaar-based E-KYC process, is further extended till the matter is finally heard and and the judgement is pronounced by the Hon’ble Supreme Court. Accordingly, any communications/voice messages/SMSs, which are to be sent by the licensees to their mobile subscribers regarding re-verification of mobile connections through Aadhaar based E-KYC process, shall not contain any last date for re-verification”

This is the official announcement,

In this, the DoT has directed that mobile service providers shouldn’t include last date in their voice messages or text messages.

Earlier, a toll free number was also given. Customers had to dial 14546 for generating an OTP and verifying their mobile phones.

So now, this is good news for people as they don’t have to link it till 31st of March.
