Since ‘Bang Bang’, which was released in the year 2014, Hrithik had disappeared from the big screen. He made a comeback this year with ‘Mohenjo Daro’ and so, everyone expected that the movie would really earn ‘BIG’.
However, all expectations were shattered because the movie garnered very poor collections at the box office, in spite of being released with so much pomp.
Yes, in a period of one week, the movie could earn just 51.18 crores, which is really disappointing, isn’t it? These disappointing collections proved that audience didn’t like this period drama. After ‘Guzaarish’ which was released in the year 2010, this is Hrithik’s 1st flop movie.
Makers spent 100 crores in its’ making and around 15 crores in its promotions and advertising. Now, there are no chances of earning good collections in upcoming days; for ‘Mohenjo Daro’ it is ‘GAME OVER’.
Now, it seems that after learning a lesson from ‘Mohenjo Daro’ Hrithik wouldn’t compromise on his fees.
Yes, there are reports of Hrithik walking out of YRF’s ‘Thug’ because they weren’t paying him the expected remuneration.
Basically, Hrithik had demanded 60 crores for playing the lead in the movie, but Aditya Chopra flatly refused. Usually, other actors agree to profit sharing, but it seems after seeing Mohenjo Daro’s failure at the box office, Hrithik is in no mood to do so. He wants to play safe and charge a flat fee.
Sources say
“Even superstars like Shah Rukh, Salman, Aamir Khan have a reasonable take-home. They are bankable stars and still charge into a profit-sharing agreement with production houses. Hrithik didn’t want that. He wanted a flat fee of `60 crore and that was outright rejected by Adi. Profit sharing also means that the actor might not make major moolah if his film fails to work at the BO. So it’s risky, which is why Hrithik perhaps wanted a flat fee, which is safe.”
Makers have roped in Aamir Khan in his place. ‘Thug’ is an adventure saga and already a lot of amount has gone into the making. Hrithik’s 60 crore demand isn’t affordable for the makers. Now, since Aamir is roped in, the movie would sure shot cross 250 crore mark, considering the grandeur of the star.
