Surprisingly, it wasn’t about cricket skills at all. Dhoni advised him to be careful with his earnings, save wisely and avoid unnecessary spending.
Prashant Veer, who entered the auction with a base price of just INR 30 lakh, ended up becoming one of the highest paid uncapped players ever. Despite limited experience, just nine T20 matches, he has already shown promise with an impressive strike rate and useful left-arm spin bowling.
His selection, along with wicketkeeper Kartik Sharma, hints at CSK’s long-term planning. With Ravindra Jadeja moving to Rajasthan Royals and MS Dhoni nearing the end of his career, the team seems to be building for the future.
