The Vice-President Hamid Ansari launched his book ‘Citizen and Society’, which is a collection of lectures delivered by on him on topics ranging from the role of women in a multicultural society, empowering woman, eradicating poverty, challenges to democracy. India’s President Pranab Mukherjee spoke on the importance of democracy at the event. He said,
“We cannot forget that without effective engagement we cannot achieve success and protest democracy. Democracies are noisy, maybe ours is a little too noisy. But it always pays if we engage ourselves with the issues.”
Ansari emphasised on the importance of accepting diversity. How we must promote the concept of Unity in diversity.
“India needs to develop a mindset to move beyond tolerance to acceptance of diversity,”
