“Adipurush” was one of the biggest movies of the Indian cinema but the film and the makers got slammed a lot by the audiences for distorting facts plus the characterization was also not liked by people.
The movie was directed by Om Raut and it starred Prabhas, Kriti Sanon and Saif Ali Khan in important roles. Recently Om Raut gave an interview in which he said that “Adipurush” was not a flop and he also called Prabhas a flop-proof actor.
Om Raut said that on the opening day, “Adipurush” earned Rs. 70 crore in India and their total box-office collection was more than Rs. 400 crores. He added that if the perception for the movie had been positive, they would have earned huge amount but that didn’t happen and it was really disappointing for them.
Om Raut said that criticism didn’t matter to him as the box-office numbers are an indication that people like the movie. He also claims that he even got many messages from people saying that they loved his film.
“Adipurush”, released on June 16, 2023, is based on the Hindu mythological epic Ramayana. However, the film encountered significant backlash from the audiences that accused it of distorting the epic. Critics were particularly disappointed with the film’s dialogues as well as the portrayals of Ravana and Lord Hanuman.
In response to public outrage, the makers altered the controversial “kapda tere baap ka” dialogue, but this change did little to quell the criticism. Additionally, a plea was filed in the Supreme Court seeking to revoke the CBFC certification of the Om Raut directorial. However, the top court dismissed the plea, allowing the film to continue its run.
