Whether it is Lipstick Under My Burkha or Black Friday, films that deal with not-so-usual subjects of the society or when the censor board of film certification thinks they are not appropriate for society, face ban. However, CBFC of not only India but also Pakistan bans films from releasing in their country.
Pakistanis love to watch Bollywood films but due to the disapproval of the Pak CBFC, they aren’t able to watch their favourite Indian stars on screen. In first half of 2018 itself, CBFC has banned a total 7 Bollywood films.
Check which Bollywood films Pakistan has banned in 2018; some of them will really surprise you:
#1. Padman
Release date: 9 February 2018
PadMan: R Balki directorial Indian biographical comedy-drama film starred Akshay Kumar, Radhika Apte, and Sonam Kapoor in the lead roles. The film garnered appreciation from audience and critics as well.
Reason: The film that targets the negative long-existing norms of the society got banned in Pakistan. The film deals with the taboo subject hence the censor board of Pakistan didn’t find it fit for their audience.
#2. Aiyaary
Release date: 16 February 2018
Aiyaary: The action-thriller film directed by Neeraj Pandey was based on Adarsh Housing Society Scam. It features Manoj Bajpayee, Sidharth Malhotra, Rakul Preet Singh, Pooja Chopra in the lead roles.
Reason: Pakistan banned the film as it portrays Pakistan in a bad light.
#3. Pari
Release date: 2 March 2018
Pari: The newcomer Prosit Roy directorial is a supernatural horror film stars Anushka Sharma in the lead role.
Reason: On banning the film, the censor board of Pakistan gave the reason that it promotes black magic. Also, it hurts Islamic values. So, Pari didn’t release in Pakistan.
#4. Raazi
Release date: 11 May 2018
Raazi: Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal came together for Meghna Gulzar’s Raazi which is a spy thriller film. Alia played the role of an Indian spy who marries a Pakistani man during the 1971 Indo-Pak war.
Reason: Pakistan banned Raazi as it showed Alia in the role of intelligence agent who spied Pakistan for India.
#5. Parmanu
Release date: 25 May 2018
Parmanu: John Abraham and Diana Penty starrer Parmanu based on the story of nuclear bomb test conducted by Indian Army in 1998. Abhishek Sharma is the director of the film.
Reason: Parmanu didn’t release in Pakistan as neighbouring country bans all the foreign movies during the month of Ramzan and Eid.
#6. Veere Di Wedding
Release date: 1 June 2018
Veere Di Wedding: Shashank Ghosh directorial high spirited film revolves around the lives of four girls. The role of modern girls played by Sonam Kapoor Ahuja, Kareena Kapoor, Swara Bhaskar, and Shikha Talsania.
Reason: Due to having obscene scenes and vulgar dialogues, the censor board of Pakistan didn’t find it suitable to release in the country.
#7. Race 3

Race 3: The multi-starrer film that deals with the borderline crime is the sequel of successful film Race. The film stars Salman Khan, Bobby Deol, Anil Kapoor, Saqib Qureshi, Jacqueline Fernandez, and Daisy Shah in the lead roles.
Reason: The film is set to release during the month of Ramzan. Pakistan doesn’t allow any foreign films to release this month. So the country banned the film.
It seems Pakistan’s censor board is way more sensitive than India!
