We still remember the line “Chacha Chaudhary ka dimag computer se bhi tez chalta hai (Chacha Chaudhary’s brain is faster than a computer). Needless to say, these comics were among our major sources of entertainment and time pass, especially during holidays.

Children will be glad to know that Maharashtra government has included Chacha Chaudhary comics as supplementary reading. However, there’s a twist as the comic book also features Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in pictorial form with Chacha Chaudhary and Sabu.

The book entitled “Chacha Chaudhary and Modi” will show Chacha promoting union government under PM Modi’s leadership and will be kept at libraries of schools under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan so that students can enjoy reading them in free time.

NCP leader and MP Supriya Sule has criticised this move and slamming BJP in harsh words, she said,

“Education is a serious topic and it has been the tradition that all parties including those who have been in opposition have always taken efforts to take right decisions regarding our education system. However, this government has not left even education system to carry out Modi’s propaganda. Education system should not be used for political gains but Modi government has brought its marketing into the education system. Students can take a call on what they want to read but it is really unfortunate that the government is introducing such books to them under Sarva Siksha Abhiyan.”

Twitter has also actively reacted over it and here are some selected tweets:
