Within minutes, the Internet exploded with memes and jokes around the now-viral “Melodi” trend, combining the names of Meloni and Melody. Indian users especially flooded social media platforms with humorous posts and reactions.
Here are some selected ones:

The viral moment came during the final leg of PM Modi’s five-nation Europe tour. Modi arrived in Rome on May 19 at the official invitation of the Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni to strengthen bilateral ties and upgrade the relationship between India and Italy into a special strategic partnership.
During his visit, PM Narendra Modi interacted with members of the Indian diaspora in Rome, watched cultural performances and also viewed a painting of the ghats of Varanasi created by Italian painter Giampaolo Tomassetti, whose work was inspired by Indian culture.
Several important issues are part of the India-Italy discussions. The agenda includes infrastructure planning for the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC) and implementation of the Joint Strategic Action Plan 2025-2029 covering technology, science and trade cooperation.

The talks are also focused on joint defence manufacturing projects, cybersecurity systems, space technology collaboration, clean energy expansion, critical minerals supply, maritime transport and stronger bilateral trade ties. Both leaders are also expected to discuss major global issues including the Middle East crisis, Russia-Ukraine war and Indo-Pacific maritime security.
Apart from bilateral meetings, PM Narendra Modi is also scheduled to visit the headquarters of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Rome, highlighting India’s continued focus on multilateral cooperation and global food security.
Meanwhile, the “Melodi” trend continues to dominate social media timelines, proving that sometimes even a simple packet of toffees can create a global viral moment.
