The 2019 Lok Sabha elections are just around the corner, and Modi technically is prohibited from running elaborate election campaigns to garner in more votes in his favour.
For instance, a few days ago, Modi tweeted from his official handle tagging a large number of celebrities, calling them ‘influencers’ and encouraging them to motivate citizens to vote.
Also, EROS announced that a new web series will be launched on Modi’s journey and will be streaming during the elections. Modi’s biopic starring Vivek Oberoi will also be released on 12th April, a day after Phase 1 of elections begin.
He has now launched a new campaign on social media with the hashtag #MainBhiChowkidar which essentially provokes Indians to become watchmen or chowkidars for their countries.
It is aimed at fighting dirty politics, corruption and social evils which plague our society. Check out the tweet here:
Your Chowkidar is standing firm & serving the nation.
But, I am not alone.
Everyone who is fighting corruption, dirt, social evils is a Chowkidar.
Everyone working hard for the progress of India is a Chowkidar.
Today, every Indian is saying-#MainBhiChowkidar
— Narendra Modi (@narendramodi) March 16, 2019
However, while this came with good intentions, netizens couldn’t stop laughing. This hashtag has become no.1 trending on Twitter now and has drawn some of the most hilarious responses ever.
